Following my transition to working independently as an artist, PSYCHEREAMA – Primordial Sun was presented as my first solo exhibition.
The process began by opening myself to a freer, more intuitive way of creating.
Stepping away for a moment from the judgments and choices I had developed through years of creative practice, I approached the material almost as a form of self-therapy. Without references or preliminary sketches, I allowed colors and forms to emerge through the process.
The motif I chose was intentionally ambiguous: “something like a flower.”
As if gently unfolding the petals of a tightly closed bud one by one, I continued working by tracing the contours that seemed to emerge from within.
Over the course of creating nearly fifty works, each began to take on a distinct presence of its own. Eventually, they seemed almost to look back at me, quietly reflecting light in return.
From this experience came the title PSYCHEREAMA – Primordial Sun.
For the exhibition, the works were suspended from the ceiling rather than displayed on walls, appearing throughout the space as “thin sculptures.” Under natural light, their colors, transparency, and overlapping layers shifted continuously. Visitors could move between the works, walk around to their reverse sides, and at times gently touch the material, experiencing a space that moved between flatness and volume.
The entire exhibition became immersed in color—a space in which color and light could be experienced through seeing, touching, and moving.
その制作体験から生まれた言葉が、PSYCHEREAMA(プシュケレアマ)──「原始の太陽」です。
